Over eight years ago, Kathy Bates beat ovarian cancer. It's not a widely known fact because the actress chose to keep her diagnosis and struggle a SECRET from the public.
Now, for the first time, she's revealing WHY she decided to battle the disease on her own and whether or not she would do it again.
While appearing on an episode of Anderson, which will air on Thursday, Bates shared her reasoning with Anderson Cooper by saying:
“I don’t know how to explain it. Nobody else really knows what you’re going through except another cancer patient. Even though your family is supportive and surrounds you, I just got to a point where I would go to chemo by myself and just really go through it on my own. I guess it’s something that I felt I had to face on my own.”
Check out the video above to watch a preview of the episode and whether or not she'd adopt the same strategy if she ever (hopefully NEVER) had to fight for her life again.
