Hooray for Safeway!
One of North America's largest supermarket chains is calling it quitting time for pink slime. Safeway Inc, which is the company behind brands like Vons, Pavillions, and Genuardi's, has ceased the sale of any beef products containing the ammonia soaked meat filler (that was at one time only approved for use in dog food)!
We couldn't be happier to hear the news because earlier this month we learned that 70% of all ground beef sold at grocery stores contains this stomach-churning ingredient.
Check out the video above for all the details on Safeway's safe and SMART decision.
Let's hope MORE grocery stores follow their example so the beef companies have no choice but to remove pink slime from the production line! Until then, we know where we'll be getting our hamburger meat!
