Quick, when you think lawsuit and McDonald's — what do you think?
You think of that one case where that one lady sued McDonald's for ordering hot coffee and then being shocked that it was hot… and won.
Well, those days are not over, no matter what McDonald's tries.
One of the cases has merit if it's true. A little girl was given coffee to give to her grandmother and the lid slid off and burned her. Giving hot coffee to children is AGAINST policy at the restaurants. So that has grounds. They're asking for $4 million because the girl suffered second degree burns.
The other has been filed because 35-year-old Melissa Pettigrew spilled hot coffee all over her thighs, leading to what her attorney calls "horrific" burns. At what point do the warnings on the cups and just BEING CAREFUL isn't enough? Seriously, lawsuits like this are a waste of time. Be an adult, use both hands if you have to, etc.
Here's another question: Why can't they brew coffee at a not-lava temperature? Would that be too hard?
