As we said previously about Miley Cyrus' gluten-free love affair, perhaps you should hold up on taking her advice that everyone should try it.
And it kinda looks like we were right according to these experts!
This is from Rachel Begun, a registered dietitian and food industry consultant:
"People who go gluten-free may gain weight if they rely mostly on highly-processed gluten free foods, many of which tend to be higher in fat, calories and sugar than their gluten-containing counterparts."
And this is from Karen Ansel, also a registered dietitian and spokeswoman for the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics:
"There’s absolutely no evidence that a gluten-free diet promotes weight loss. However, there is data that indicates that following a gluten-free diet can result in a diet that's low in key nutrients — especially iron, zinc and B vitamins such as folate and niacin.”
So you have to BE CAREFUL and not just do it on a whim because it's working for one celebrity that has the proper reasons to follow it!
Just make sure you don't turn this into a fad diet, it could backfire!
