That's cold, Babs!
Barbra Streisand asked Sumner Redstone to donate to Women’s Heart Center at Cedars-Sinai, so that's exactly what he did. To the tune of $1 million.
The only thing he asked in return would be that Barbra attend the ceremony where he got his star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame — and she agreed!
But then she bailed at the last minute!
Here's what a source said:
“Sumner wanted the huge star to attend his star ceremony, and had expected to see her there after making his donation… he was upset that [Streisand] didn’t show up. If someone gives you a million dollars and asks you to show up, you do it. But Sumner won’t ask for the money back — it is a wonderful charity.”
We'd like to think that the majority of the reason why he donated was to help a worthy cause and not to get a celebrity at his ceremony, because otherwise he'd seem like he was whining. It would never cross his mind to ask for his money back, right???
Reps for Steisand say that she had a recording scheduled and nobody is actually mad. Pretty much the canned answer that anyone would expect!
It is kinda shady that she wouldn't go (like you can't postpone a few hours in a recording studio when you're Barbra Freakin' Streisand!), but hearing that he's complaining about it based on doing a good thing for charity is equally as unsavory!
