It's gotta be hard being the person playing the iconic role in an blockbuster. From the stress of trying to a good job, even just for yourself, to the unwarranted backlash from the fan community, we can't even imagine the stress.
That's what Jennifer Lawrence had to go through about her weight for The Hunger Games. She handled it brilliantly, and she'll be happy to hear that experts agree that all the criticism was stupid and unjustified!
Here's what John Sharp, M.D. leading psychiatrist and Harvard Medical School faculty member said, among others:
“This criticism is absurd. She makes a point of being healthy and not too thin, and calling her fat is a great disservice to the healthy body image that she represents. As a society we are moving away from this too thin ideal. I think that Hollywood is moving away, too, but it takes a long time and it takes a lot of work. It’s been too thin for too long. It takes a long time for people to accept it that Jennifer is not fat, for example, and that she looks healthy.”
Luckily, like we said, Jennifer has handled it like a champ:
“I’m totally normal. You see these 12 and 13 year olds ordering salads with dressing on the side and thinking they need to be on a diet. I do want the stick-thin trend to end."
Brilliant! We do too!
The main thing is that people are HAPPY and HEALTHY!
We think you look gorgeous, Jennifer!
