Men's Health magazine and Gold's Gym have teamed up to bring us the 2nd annual nationwide vote for the greatest workout song.
Party Rock Anthem by LMFAO!!
The competition involved celebrities and fans nominating their favorite workout jam.
A $5,000 donation would go to the winner's charity of choice.
The Vice President of Communications for Gold’s Gym said:
"With so many great new songs released in 2011, we knew we had to revisit March Music Madness again, as a tribute to both our members and the talented artists who create the music that help keep them motivated every day.
March Music Madness proves that year after year, music is a powerful part of the fitness experience, and we’re thrilled that consumers continue to show support for this initiative, all while allowing us to give back to the greater community."
After all the nominations were in, fans voted on them in a playoff style bracket.
When the dust cleared, LMFAO stood the winner. They were chosen by New York Knicks star Steve Novak.
Steve plans to donate the money to the Loeys Dietz Syndrome Foundation, a non-profit who educates people about the syndrome and tries to aid in the identification, diagnosis and treatment of Loeys-Dietz syndrome.
"I was excited to hear that ‘Party Rock Anthem’ came out on top during March Music Madness this year. The song has always helped push me through some of my most difficult workouts, helping me up my game on the court.
More importantly, I’m glad for the opportunity to give back to the Loeys- Dietz Syndrome Foundation, a cause that’s really close to me. Thanks to everyone who voted!"
Congrats on winning, Steve!
You definitely picked a great workout song.
