Whole Foods Bans Seafood!

Whole Foods really cares about the environment. They care so much they're actually going to ban the sale of red-rated fish from their stores.

Red-rated fish are non-sustainable fish, which means we are basically fishing them into extinction.

The Monterey Bay Aquarium's Seafood Watch and the Blue Ocean Institute have a list of red-rated fish, and none of the fish on that list will be appearing in any Whole Foods anytime soon.

Whole Foods wrote on their blog:

"Today's a big day for us. Not just because it’s Earth Day but because as of today, in support of healthier oceans and to help reverse overfishing trends, Whole Foods Market will no longer carry red-rated wild seafood."

It's so amazing that they're actually going to actively turn down more profit to be able to save the environment.

There are some unhappy customers though, mainly fishermen from New England, one of which who said:

"It’s totally maddening. They’re just doing it to make all the green people happy."

The fishing industry will lose money but tunas won't go extinct!
