Uh-oh! This is NOT good news!
Could the best-selling laundry detergent, Tide, actually have carcinogens as it's made??
Women’s Voices for the Earth tested about 20 cleaning products last fall — they found what it described as problematic levels of 1,4 dioxane, a solvent, in Tide Free & Gentle (fragrance free) and Tide Original Scent!
Not only that, but smaller amounts of the chemical were found in Bounce Free & Sensitive (fragrance free), which are dryer sheets!
Those amounts of the dioxan ARE actually made during the manufacture of detergents, shampoos and certain drugs… and the EPA considers them a probably carcinogen!
Here's what the group said:
“Tide Free and Gentle is marketed to moms as a healthier choice for babies. Our perspective is that it doesn’t need to be in there.”
Of course, the company has said that the level in their products is within safety guidelines, and assured everyone by saying:
“We are many, many levels of magnitude below the levels that are considered any level of safety risk.”
So no, they are not going to change it… but they have always been working to reduce the trace elements regardless — it seems!
The issue here is that we don't actually know how much is needed to cause cancer, so when the EPA says a number, it's pretty much based on a guess at that point!
The question is this: if it's not a needed ingredient, why not get rid of it JUST IN CASE??
What do U think?? Should we worry??
