Could Red Wine Reverse The Aging Process?

Red wine has already been linked to heart health and protection against certain cancers — but can it reverse the aging process?
Red wine's possible anti-aging properties have been examined for years but now a recent study has found a specific aging-related gene that may be activated by red wine.
The researchers used mice and looked at the effects of resveratrol, the interesting anti-aging compound in red wine.
The study's co-author said resveratrol:
"[…] revs up the battery packs of the cells — the mitochondria — and if we delete [the anti-aging gene] in mice, resveratrol doesn’t do that anymore.
The decline in batteries is a major factor that makes us susceptible to diseases. The cells have more energy and live longer."
What all that means is they've pinpointed a gene that deals with aging that resveratrol activates.
What that activation does is make the body appear as if it's been on a restricted diet.
That means that if scientists can figure out how to directly affect this gene, they may be able to give you a pill that makes it seem as if you've been dieting and exercising without actually doing any work.
Which sounds like kinda a bad idea, but if that's what it takes to stay forever young, we guess it'll have to do.
