The Good News
They are loaded with protein (6 grams per egg), Low in calories (80 calories per egg), and CHEAP!
The Bad News
A bit high in Cholesterol (The yolk has 186 milligrams of cholesterol). The average person who does not have heart disease or high cholesterol should limit dietary cholesterol intake to 300 mg per day.
People with heart disease and high cholesterol should use cholesterol-free egg substitutes or only egg whites.
Egg whites contain no cholesterol, but still have protein. Egg whites have 15 calories per egg, no cholesterol, and no saturated fat, which makes them a figure-friendly food.
Eggs can aid with weight loss because the protein satisfies you, and they are quick and easy to prepare!
My favorite egg recipes are:
A vegetable frittata made with egg whites, parmesan cheese (about a tablespoon), spinach, onions, peas, mushrooms and tomatoes.
One hard-boiled egg and 4 hard-boiled egg whites chopped up and mixed with light mayonnaise, chopped celery, relish, and paprika. Serve with tomatoes on toasted whole grain bread!
