When it comes to health and getting into shape, there is so much information out there and there are so many people trying to sell you something, you have no idea what's true.

So we found a list of nine health myths that are totally not true.

It's only a myth that:

You can tone a part of your body by working out that part of the body. (You can't.)

We should be ingesting large quantities of vitamins and supplements. (You shouldn't.)

Stretching before a workout is essential. (It's not.)

All health food is healthy. (Many processed healthy snacks are basically treats that don't taste as good as candy.)

Yoga is a good way to get fit. (Not many calories are burned.)

Exercise is a good way to lose weight. (It helps but it's more about your diet. Like, way more.)

You need to detox and cleanse your system. (No evidence it's helpful.)

The answer lies in your genes. (Still a young field of study.)

Homeopathy is an effective natural remedy. (Placebo effect.)

So remember, the above list is NOT true.

Don't fall for any of the hype over a homeopathic product that will tone a certain part of your body if you ingest large quantities of supplements because the answer lies in your genes.

It's just not true.
