Acupuncture and hypnosis has loooong been associated with quitting smoking.
But are they old wives' tales or legit?
Researchers found that the answer is a STRONG….maybe.
Some studies have found that acupuncture, laser or needle, has some effects on quitting, including ones that state smokers are three times more likely to quit when using the alternative method.
A 2008 study tested 258 smokers with 55 percent quitting after six months of acupuncture. This is compared to four percent for those who didn't have acupuncture.
Hypnosis had similar results. Two studies shows hypnosis had a 20 to 45 percent success while other studies had lesser effects.
The verdict? A STRONG maybe.
Scientists state that there are still many questions surrounding the two therapies.
However, they admitted a trend establishing in the smoking community.
Will this trend catch on?
