Good gracious! Quick! Someone tell Tanning Mom what she's doing may actually be unhealthy!
A new study from the Mayo Clinic has found there's been a scary increase in skin cancer rates among young adults, aged 18-39.
Between 1970 and 2009, melanoma in young women increased eightfold and in young men fourfold.
That's ridiculous — and it's not like the sun is getting brighter or something.
The researchers attribute the increase in cancer to tanning beds, which are carcinogenic.
A small piece of good news is the survival rates are higher because detection is happening earlier and earlier.
Still, it'd be better to just not get cancer in the first place.
So next time you wanna go tanning, just picture the bed as your coffin and maybe you'll just spring for the spray tan instead.
