Okay, maybe not immortal, but a new study has shown that coffee may increase longevity.
The study, from the National Institutes of Health (NIH), found that older coffee drinkers — even fans of decaf — had a lower risk of death than those who didn't.
Give us a sec, we're gonna go put on a pot real quick.
"Coffee is one of the most widely consumed beverages, both in the United States and worldwide. Since coffee contains caffeine, a stimulant, coffee drinking is not generally considered to be part of a healthy lifestyle. However, coffee is a rich source of antioxidants and other bioactive compounds."
The study looked at 229,119 men and 173,141 women aged 50 to 71 who participated in the study.
Men who had six or more cups a day had a 10% less chance of dying and women who had six or more cups a day had a 15% less chance!
That's so crazzzzy.
We had no idea coffee could be that good for you.
The researchers say another study would need to look more closely at individual people to really be sure how good coffee is and which preparation method is best.
Regardless, we're gonna go suck down some joe right now! Then maybe we'll have a cup of coffee. LOLz!
