Chuck Shriner, a 17-year-old, high school student had his diploma withheld after Tebowing at his graduation ceremony.
His name was called during the ceremony, he took to the stage, then dropped to one knee in prayer, right in front of the principal.
We made up that last part — but they did withhold his diploma for the stunt. Chuck said:
"I just thought it was fun. I was just doing it to make graduation memorable."
Apparently his classmates bet him $5 he wouldn't do it. He said:
"I would have done it for free."
The students had been warned beforehand that any shenanigans wouldn't be tolerated.
"[The administration] said what I did would give underclassmen inspiration to do something else. So they were trying to set an example."
So to make amends and earn his degree (for a second time) they are forcing him to repeat his senior year!
JK! He only had to clean the gymnasium after the graduation ceremony. LOLz!
His mom, who was actually a math teacher at the school helped to determine his punishment and eventually handed over his diploma.
"She was really mad. But I think it was worth it."
We agree. People take things too seriously.
