Are you an addict?
How often do you think about food? How often do you use it to reward yourself?
Do you find yourself rationalizing food (like: oh I'll eat this now and work it off later!) Justifying? (I worked all day, my boss is a jerk, I'm not dating anyone and I deserve a one night affair with ben & jerry!) Minimizing? ("Oh I'll just eat a chocolate croissant for breakfast, skip lunch, and have a salad for dinner" - suuuuure you are….)
These are all symptoms of addiction, and its no secret that food can hook you in and make ya beg for more! There is no quick "how to" fix on how to change how you perceive food. But if you're looking forward to your meals like they are the vocal points of your day - maybe its not the food that's the source of your problem. Make an effort to fill your free time with things you'll look forward to doing. I know i'm not the only one who habitually gets up, walks to the kitchen, and just stands in front of the fridge playing the process of elimination game trying to find something I can comfortably eat without feeling pangs of guilt. Most of the time we eat it's out of boredom, (come on, how often do you wait to hear your stomach growl before you eat?). Fill your time, keep yourself occupied, and for goddsakes get out of the house!
