Hebrew National Hotdogs NOT Kosher??

How can you… but what about… but they're called…

According to a new lawsuit, Hebrew National Hotdogs are NOT kosher!

The lawsuit claims that meat processing services provided to ConAgra by privately held AER Services Inc didn't live up to the standards to label Hebrew National products as kosher!

Apparently the plaintiffs are saying that AER supervisors "did little or nothing" to address employee complaints that the meat processed for ConAgra wasn't kosher. There are even claims of people being fired or threatened retaliation for complaining!

Here was ConAgra's response:

"While we can't comment on pending litigation, we stand behind the quality of Hebrew National and its kosher status."

Usual response. Wouldn't it be weird if someone someday owned up to whatever it was, flat out? Like, "Yep, they're right. Sorry!"

Think of how much time that'd save!

Here's a good point from the plaintiff's lawyers:

"This is an invisible fraud. How does a consumer who thinks he is buying kosher meat really know he is buying kosher meat? It's a very, very difficult thing for a consumer to detect, unless someone investigates."

That's true.

We're not sure if we've decided to believe on either side, so we'll just have to check it out further down the road!
