Almost one sixth of the world's population (about a billion people) don't have access to clean drinking water.
Mandy Moore is doing her part to help by urging Congress to act to help solve this awful problem.
As an ambassador of Population Services International, a child survival organization, she wanted to help because dirty water is a leading cause of death among young children in 3rd world countries.
She talked about her experiences with Sudanese people who were getting sick from drinking contaminated water.
She attended the inaugural USAID Frontiers in Development forum and then later co-hosted a briefing called The Ripple Effect of Water, Sanitation and Hygiene on Global Health and Development.
She's really giving up a lot of her time to help others and it's making us like her even more!
