Hell yeah, Anja Pärson! We are so happy you took this step!
We're so excited for them!
Of course, there had always been rumors, but rumors can't really inspire people — so we're glad she went public and put those rumors to rest.
Here's what she said:
"I am tired of being someone else and of playing a game. I owe it to myself and especially to Filippa to tell the truth. The time of rumours is now over."
Apparently she never thought she would fall in love with a woman, but that after she met Filippa, in 2005 their friendship blossomed into the best kind of romance:
"I had never intended to fall in love with a woman. Never thought that my heart could beat so fast for a woman. I was insanely in love. I have known for almost nine months what I will do in the future. I am going to be a mother."
This is going to be such an inspiration for those hesitating to reach their full potential because of hiding who they are.
Just look at Anja, who took 19 championship medals, 42 World Cup victories, and two overall World Cup titles in 2004 and 2005.
She also won six Olympic medals!
We love this! Love and inspiration all around!
