Soccer is David Beckham's life and it all started back in England, so naturally he's "very disappointed" that he was not chosen for Great Britain's Olympic squad.
Although the seksi baller made it on the shortlist comprised of 35 players, coach Stuart Pearce decided not to add the 37-year-old to his 18-man roster.
Being the classy gentleman that he is, Beckham still has nothing but pride for his homeland and is wishing Team Great Britain the best. In a statement regarding the snub, the Los Angeles Galaxy player said:
"Everyone knows how much playing for my country has always meant to me. So I would have been honoured to have been part of this unique Team GB squad. Naturally I am very disappointed, but there will be no bigger supporter of the team than me. And like everyone, I will be hoping they can win the gold.”
Aww! We would have LOVED to watch Beckham bend it one more time for his country in the Olympics, but can understand why he wasn't chosen. Whether he likes it or not, he's getting older!
In fact, there were only three men selected to play that are over the age of 23. At least he gets to sit back, relax and enjoy the 2012 London Olympics with his family by his side.
