No, Brazilian prisoners aren't given bikes and allowed to try and escape by out running dogs or guards with high power sniper rifles.
In Brazil's Santa Rita do Sapucai prison, inmates can shorten their sentences by putting in time on stationary bikes hooked up to generators.
For every 16 hours the prisoners pedal, they get a full day taken off their sentence!
That's a great idea!
It pumps energy into the grid, keeps inmates in shape, and gets them back on the streets sooner!
Well, that last part doesn't sound good but at least they're doing something useful.
Imagine if every prison adopts this technique and prisons soon become green power plants!
We'd light our bulbs with prison power!
