Joe Paterno May Have Helped Decide Not To Report Sandusky Sex Abuse

As far as anyone had been told, including a grand jury, the late Joe Paterno, famed Penn State football coach, had gone to his superiors as soon as he heard about the allegations against Jerry Sandusky and followed proper procedure.

Now, some e-mails have recently hit the net, and they apparently make it seem like Paterno might have helped make the decision not to report the alleged sex abuse.

The e-mails are between Paterno and Penn State's vice president and the athletic director.

Apparently they were going to alert child welfare and Second Mile, Sandusky's charity.

But for some reason they suddenly decided against all that. The athletic director said in an e-mail to the vice-prez:

"After giving it more thought and talking it over with Joe yesterday — I am uncomfortable with what we agreed were the next steps."

All the Penn State leaders, who should have had the children's best interest in mind, instead of their football team's, made it seem like it was such a hard decision.

Like, "Hmm… a man was caught raping a child… I dunno, maybe we should tell someone? Probably not though."

We don't understand how a person could witness or hear about that and do anything other than immediately call the cops.

We'll be innerested to see what happens after the attorney general makes a statement about the nature of these e-mails.
