Joe Paterno's Family Speaks!
Allegations have been flying around about Penn State officials covering up the actions of Jerry Sandusky in relation to the sex abuse scandal.
Many of these allegations have most recently been flung at the late Joe Paterno, Penn State's famed football coach.
His family has had enough and is finally speaking out in his defense, saying that he didn't cover up anything and didn't hinder an investigation of Sandusky.
Paterno's family said:
"Joe Paterno did not act in any way to prevent a proper investigation of Jerry Sandusky. To claim otherwise is a distortion of the truth."
One thing the media is holding onto is an apparent email conversation where the college's athletic director, Tim Curley, spoke with Paterno and then changed his mind about going to police.
The family said:
"When the facts come out, it will be clear that Joe Paterno never gave Tim Curley any instructions to protect Sandusky or limit any investigation of his actions."
It's so sad that Paterno died of cancer before he was able to defend himself.
May he rest in peace.
