Apple has decided to abandon its green products program! The maker of the iPhone will no longer be complying with EPEAT's eco-friendly standards, which the company actually helped develop under Steve Jobs' leadership.
Robert Frisbee, the head of the the green electronics registry, explained that "Apple has said that their design direction is not compatible with EPEAT standards."
Sources are speculating that the design in question is the MacBook Pro because the batteries are no longer removable and, as a result, the computer can no longer be recycled.
This is a disappointing decision in our opinion, especially considering that the company had maintained a gold star rating from EPEAT in the past.
Seems like Apple had a good thing going and we don't understand why the company would want to move forward with a product design that is no longer environmentally responsible.
