Father & Son Lose 260 Pounds Together!!

Now this is what we call family solidarity!
Mike Cianciullo weighed 321 pounds at 5 feet 7 inches, while his son Matt was 5 feet 3 inches and weighed 333 pounds.
The decision to do weight loss surgery was less about the stares they got out in public, and more about saving Matt's life.
Here's the thing, though — Matt wasn't being bullied because of his weight, like so many kids were. He was 17, and had a bunch of friends.
That's why he wasn't too sure about the surgery when his dad approached him about it.
Matt had to look at his dad's health before he realized he should fix this before something happened:
"To think that, that young, I might lose him before I was 20 — it's not something you want. And I always thought if I kept going down the same path, I would be like him or worse."
So they looked into Lap-Band.
They both passed the pre-reqs to get it, and it went smoothly.
Now, just a few short years later, Matt has dropped 160 pounds; his dad has lost more than 100.
But it hasn't been at a cost — they have to chew their food more carefully, and watch the types of things they eat. Some fibrous veggies and carbs can get lodged if they aren't careful, and it becomes painful.
They're happy now, which is the important thing… and they're healthy!
Matt is almost to his goal of 150 pounds, and his dad isn't so far off either. It usually takes adults more time to lose the weight anyway!
Congrats, guys!
