Looks like Peachy Paterno isn't going anywhere.
Back in 1990, Joe Paterno had an ice cream from the Penn State ice cream store named after him.
So people were trying to get Paterno's statue removed, and now they've also set their sights on his ice cream.
The manager of the ice cream store said:
"Peachy Paterno ice cream is still being manufactured and sold in the Creamery salesroom. We reiterate this ice cream was named in honor of Joe Paterno's academic contributions to Penn State University and does not have any connection to the football program in particular or athletics in general. The flavor was developed in 1989 and awarded to Mr. Paterno in 1990. Revenue generated from the sale of Creamery ice cream is allocated toward graduate assistantships and undergraduate internships in the Food Science Department."
We don't really care what he did to help the academics.
If he covered for a pedophile, would you want to eat his ice cream?
We think not.
