Most people have heard that cranberry juice can be very good for a urinary tract infection (UTI).
A new study has just confirmed that old adage to be actually true!
The study found that cranberry products could help reduce the risk of infections by as much as 34%.
Though, just to make things more confusing for no reason, there was another study that showed that women who consumed lots of cranberry products ran a higher risk of infection and were 43% more likely to develop a UTI.
Even with the two conflicting studies, many medical professionals still believe cranberry does more benefit than harm.
There are certain compounds in cranberries that could block UTI causing bacteria's ability to attach to the membranes of the urinary and genital tracts.
About half of all women will have at least one UTI during their lifetime and doctors still continue to advise their patients to drink cranberry products for these infections.
So basically, feel free to not change your habits.
Drinks lots of cranberry? Fine!
Don't drink any? Sure, whatever!
Just talk to your doc if it burns when you go pee pee.
