That's right, Boy Scouts — you've made the wrong decision to shut down equality from entering in your program.
And we thought you were honorable.
So did MLS, but now they've seen your bad side too… and have decided to drop ties. They join the likes of groups such as The Muppets and the entire city of Boston in the fight against inequality (though theirs fight is currently with Chick-fil-A).
The two clubs had actually announced a partnership on Jan. 12 of this year, but that's now no longer the case after this season.
The statement by Major League Soccer was simple and to the point:
'Major League Soccer’s agreement with the Boy Scouts of America expires at the end of the 2012 season and MLS does not intend the renew the agreement for a variety of business reasons.'
We all know why, as soccer has been supportive of equality for a while now.
The question is as to why MLS started a relationship with them in the first place. Maybe they thought the discrimination would be removed, as the judgment on it was looming.
Either way, we're glad!
