Coke And Pepsi Searching For Holy Grail Of Soda

Imagine a soda that has zero calories, zero artificial sweeteners, and tastes exactly like a regular soda.

That's the holy grail of soft drinks.

Coke and Pepsi are so close to it that they can taste it.

They're hoping to find the elusive trifecta that will silence health concerns about soda and reverse the decline in consumption of carbonated drinks — though, it could be years away.

The key is the sweeteners. Natural sweeteners that come from plants present the most promising alternative, but nobody has yet figured out how to mask their metallic aftertaste.

Stevia is getting a lot of attention, but the aftertaste is super hard to hide in cola.

Still, both Coke and Pepsi are putting massive amounts of money into finding the perfect combo — there's even a single coke plant dedicated to producing test products!

The day that it happens will be an incredible day! LOLz!
