Regis Philbin is a big football fan, and though he's a big Notre Dame supporter, it still broke his heart to see Joe Paterno's statue removed from Penn State's campus.
"I think the Penn State sanctions were overdone… really excessive in so many ways."
He felt that the NCAA was punishing the players, when they had absolutely nothing to do with the scandal.
He also must've been a Paterno fan because when asked how he felt about the statue being removed, he said:
"It broke my heart to see that."
He didn't agree with the NCAA fully on their sanctions, though he'd agree with the fine, he'd only suspend them from a few bowl games.
Sorry Reg, but what's done is done and now they'll just have to push on.
