That's right, we said it: NBC is ruining the Olympics.
And they're ruining it for pretty much everyone.
Now, they're apologizing.
But not for all of it, just for one instance — how kind of them!
Which one? Well, right before showing the world how Missy Franklin kicked all kinds of swimming ass on Monday, they ran a promo for Tuesday's episode of Today… and showed her holding her gold medal.
Of course, viewers were pissed. So pissed that NBC apologized:
"Clearly that promo should not have aired at that time. We have a process in place and this will not happen again. We apologize to viewers who were watching and didn’t know the result of the race.”
Oh, so is this going to take care of your crappy (it literally crashes ALL THE TIME) app?
You know, the one that plasters results right on the front page, even if you're just trying to find what times things are airing?
What makes us sick is that all of this tape delay BS is because they want people to watch during prime time, just for their numbers. Bigger numbers means more money!
This unfairly forces U.S. viewers to avoid spoilers the entire day so they can enjoy watching the Games in the evening.
Our source says that "despite" viewer frustration that NBC is still getting ratings success. We'd say that's just because it's the only station anyone can watch it on here — the "ratings success" then comes from a necessity, not from NBC doing anything right at all.
We'd love to see them actually change and cover the back half of the games properly, but that probably won't happen!
