Spandau Ballet

We hope there's room for them, because this would be AWESOME.

One of the biggest unofficial anthems of the medal winners at this year's Olympic games happens to come from the eighties pop stars of Spandau Ballet — and they're hoping to get a last-minute invite to perform at the closing ceremony.

Their hit Gold is the song everyone's been playing!

Released in 1983, the track is now a good luck anthem for the home nation, and they should definitely recognize that!

Here's what the band said:

"We would love to take part. If they asked we would jump at it. I am so proud of the team."

Come on, Olympics!

Ask! Ask! Ask!
