NBC Still Defending Olympic Coverage

NBC and Twitter have teamed up to defend NBC's coverage of the London 2012 Summer Olympics.

The results of almost every single event were well known to many way before they saw it actually air.

NBC chose to time delay instead of showing the events live because they wanted to wait for primetime and get more money.

Way to care about your viewers.

Twitter took to defending NBC and itself, saying:

"It's not fair to describe Twitter as a spoiler mechanism. What we saw is that it was an amazing daytime teaser trailer driving people into prime time. The Olympics have never been about the results — they have always been about the stories told."

What?

That's absolutely false.

Is there nothing better than watching a swimming race, seeing Phelps neck and neck with another racer, not knowing if he can actually pull off grabbing another gold?

The reason the ratings and viewership numbers were so great for NBC is because they were the ONLY ones broadcasting the Olympics.

Of course they'd have great numbers!

So the only people who could truly enjoy an unspoiled 2012 Olympics were those without phones, computers, or friends.

Normally, they wouldn't be considered the lucky ones, but not when it came to the Olympics.

We hope they do better in 2016 because we'll never get 2012 back.
