The results from a 20-year study from New Zealand were just released.
It followed 1,000 people, assessing them as children, and then interviewed them repeatedly until they turned 38.
They found that those who smoked weed in their early teens, regularly before turning 18, had a significant decline in IQ.
Regular users suffered an average eight-point IQ decline that was irreversible, whether they stopped smoking later or not.
The report said:
"Persistent cannabis use over 20 years was associated with neuropsychological decline, and greater decline was evident for more persistent users. Collectively, these findings are consistent with speculation that cannabis use in adolescence, when the brain is undergoing critical development, may have neurotoxic effects."
Wow! Weed can literally be toxic for the young brain!
We guess it just proves what we always knew… high school stoners tend to pretty much underachieve through most of their life.
So please please please, if you must "do some weed" wait until college like everyone else.
Or just don't do it at all. People forget that's always an option.
