Wouldn't it be great if the Earth just naturally gave us everything we needed to run all our electronics and helped us to stop polluting so much?
One of the studies said:
"There is enough power in Earth's winds to be a primary source of near-zero-emission electric power as the global economy continues to grow through the twenty-first century."
They looked not only at "geophysical limits" of wind, which means literally if there was even enough wind on the planet to power the world (there is) but also if it would be financially possible to pull that off.
The answer is a little more complicated. Putting up wind turbines everywhere would not be easy… it's not a cheap technology.
Another researcher said:
"It is likely that wind power growth will be limited by economic or environmental factors, not global geophysical limits."
So there is enough wind in the world but there might not be enough money to harness it all.
We guess we gotta hope for science to come up with a cheaper way to harness the wind!
C'mon, science, get on it!
