veteran triple amputation smart home 9 11

As a triple amputee, Marine Cpl. Juan Dominguez doesn't just deserve this smart home, he needs it.

He lost both legs and an arm when he landed on a buried bomb after slipping down an embankment in Afghanistan.

You might recognize this story — we've talked about it before. With the help of the Stephen Siller Tunnel to Towers Foundation and its partner, the Gary Sinise Foundation, the house is being completely donated.

Here's what Dominguez said:

"I consider this foundation like part of my family. They've taken great care of me, with no strings attached, and I couldn't have asked for more."

We are so happy this is happening for him. It's specially built to help him out, includes kitchen cabinets and shelves that lower for easy access to items, an elevator, and doors that automatically open as part of an electronic-sensor system run from an iPad. A pool will also be installed so he can continue his therapy.

He got the keys to his new house at 6:59 pst, which is when Stephen Siller lost his life in the Towers on 9/11.
