The NHL lockout has begun, with NO talks scheduled as of now.
"We spoke today and determined that there was no point in convening a formal bargaining session in light of the fact that neither side is in a position to move off of its last proposal. I'm sure we will keep in touch in the coming days and schedule meetings to the extent they might be useful or appropriate. We are sorry for where we are. Not what we hoped or expected."
Wow, that's a half-hearted apology if we've ever seen one — especially when fans are being left high and dry.

If you're wondering, the League's latest offer to clear this up is a reduction to 46 percent of hockey-related revenues. This is down from the 57 percent they were currently getting. The players are seeking a deal that would guarantee at least the $1.8 billion in salaries paid out in the 2011-12 season annually.
Such a waste of time — we hope an agreement gets made so fans don't get screwed.
