Star of TLC's What Not to Wear, Stacy London is well loved for her makeover tips and friendly attitude.
There's something that you don't know about Stacy, though, and she's finally ready to talk about it. Honestly, it probably affects more people than you know, and that breaks our heart.
Here's what she said:
"I felt like I'd never had a serious boyfriend and I really wanted to be attractive."
She was 5'7" and only 90 pounds.
She was then hospitalized and began to eat again, which resulted in binge eating to mask her self-doubt. Within a year, she doubled her weight to 180 lbs — she gained 90 pounds in a year.
All she wants to do now is help those who have gone through similar things — that's why she goes into her emotional and physical struggles in her new book The Truth About Style.
"When you can talk about something and shine light on it, you're obliterating shame. And that to me was always the really hard part – to feel so filled with shame and having no recourse to thinking it could get better. [M]y value doesn't simply come from [being thin]. It comes from me and solely from me. It took me a long time to recognize that."
We're so happy you're in a better place now, Stacy!
And we're so happy that you're coming forward with this — because we bet a lot of impressionable fans will be moved, and even helped.
We can't wait to read the book!
