We can't believe it's actually happening again.
The NHL hasn't learned from their past mistakes in the 2004-2005 season (that never happened.)
As we previously mentioned, they already canceled all their preseason games.
That's the first two full weeks of hockey!
The deputy commissioner of the NHL said:
"We were extremely disappointed to have to make today's announcement. The game deserves better, the fans deserve better and the people who derive income from their connection to the NHL deserve better."
That means the season ticket holders are forced to stay at home and maybe watch college hockey or play an old NHL video game.
Players will lose the first 13 of their checks, meaning they won't get 7.7% of their salaries.
The NHL Player's Association said:
"The decision to cancel the first two weeks of the NHL season is the unilateral choice of the NHL owners. If the owners truly cared about the game and the fans, they would lift the lockout and allow the season to begin on time while negotiations continue."
But the owners don't care about the fans. They only care about the money.
It's another sad day in the world of professional sports.
Can't we all just get along?? Let's hope they work this out before the whole season is cancelled!
