Colin Farrell has opened up on how much better life is now that he's not drinking every day.
Ever since he checked into rehab in 2006, he's amazed at how much time there is in the day now that he's not constantly doing drugs and drinking.
"I've got eight hours a day now that I didn't have before, when I was drinking every day for 18 years. It's honest, it's real. That's quite simply the coolest thing."
He really is changed and glad to have done it, but even when his son James was born in 2003, he didn't immediately clean up his act, saying:
"When I had James, I made a decision not to change. I literally said, 'I'm not changing! I'm gonna be his friend!' Like a f***ing 28-year-old drug-addicted drunk friend is exactly what my six-week-old son needs."
Wow. He was pretty messed up back then.
He eventually started to get tired of struggling through the web of lies he created to hide his problems from his family.
"Oh, I wouldn't tell a truth all day. If I'd had chicken and beans for dinner, I'd tell you I had steak and potatoes. No purpose, just habit. The amount of energy you have to put in and the amount of lies you have to tell to keep a drug habit alive, it's fairly significant. Your whole life is a lie."
We're glad it all got to be too much for him and he went to rehab.
Now he's gained 8 hours to his day, and his a better father to his son.
Way to get clean!
