The Penn State cheerleader that fell 5 stories from a window is doing better… and is even responding to music!
The team's fight song, that is!!
This makes sense — if you're locked into the sports scene, you know the fight song by heart. If you're locked into the scene AND a cheerleader… well, we're pretty sure you're required to know it!
Paige Raque fell 39 feet from her off-campus apartment window, and has been in a semi-coma ever since. She is still unable to communicate and doctors have said she could have permanent brain damage — but with this new breakthrough, we're hoping they were wrong!
Her heart rate sped up and she became much more animated, all because of the fight song!
Here's what the source said:
“Paige is off the ventilator now and she’s had a really great few days.
“The most significant breakthrough is that yesterday she was played the Penn State fight song. Her heart rate increased and when she heard it she moved about a bit. Her eyes are also open a lot more now and she’s sitting up sometimes. We don’t know if Paige is aware of her surroundings or if she can understand what people are saying to her. She’s still not speaking either but the music was a great sign.”
This is such a horrible thing to have happened, and we can't imagine what it's like for anybody involved.
All we can do is continue to send our support and vibes and hope that Paige is cheering again soon!
