Do you drink moderately?
You're hurting your brain.
A blood alcohol content of .08 percent still affects the structure of your brain. They tested this on mice, and found that over a two week period of moderate drinking, the level of intoxication did not impair their motor skills or their short-term learning.
What they DID find though, is that daily alcohol exposure impacted the ability of the hippocampus to produce and retain new cells, reducing new brain cell production by nearly 40 percent!
This means that even though you're getting the benefit and antioxidants from that wine you drink every night, the detrimental effects can add up over time — and can impact our ability to learn new things.
We need someone to just sit down with us and tell us flat-out whether or not drinking is bad. We're tired of being yo-yo'd!
