If you're a smoker, you may have noticed it's almost impossible to (legally) light up inside almost anywhere.
If you're not a smoker, you may have noticed you're not dying from a secondhand smoke related disease.
Coincidence? Obvi not.
Two separate new studies have found that all those new laws that restrict smoking in most public places are helping to cut down on tobacco related hospital visits and deaths!
One study found that the smoking bans actually led to fewer heart problems in the areas they had banned smoking.
Maybe that also means that smokers are smoking less!
The other study analyzed the results of 45 other studies to see if smoke-free areas were seeing any health benefits.
And guess what… they were!
They found clear health benefits for regions that have smoking bans!
The authors of one of the studies wrote:
"All people should avoid secondhand smoke to the extent possible, and people with coronary heart disease should have no exposure to secondhand smoke."
So simply by cutting down on the amount of smoke floating around in public, people's live are literally being saved.
Thank goodness for that! Smoking is unhealthy and everyone knows it! So if you smoke… stop it!
