Don't go into full panic mode just yet!
The number of people infected with West Nile virus is still growing each year but this year's outbreak is slowing down!
The CDC has reported that 4,891 people have gotten the virus so far.
Just because it's not in the news as much doesn't mean it's not a big deal anymore.
Those numbers are similar to the meningitis outbreak! Except anyone can get West Nile!
It's as simple as getting a mosquito bite!
70% of the cases of West Nile are from Texas, California, Louisiana, Mississippi, Illinois, South Dakota, Michigan, Nebraska Oklahoma and Colorado.
So if you live in one of those states, be EXTRA careful!
Wear long clothes or spray on repellent if you're in a mosquito prone area!
