New York City Marathon CANCELLED!!

Many people were up in arms earlier today when they heard that funds in New York were being diverted from cleaning up the aftermath of Hurricane Sandy.

Where exactly were these funds going??

They were going to the New York City Marathon!

Say whaaaat??

That's what apparently was going to happen.

Thankfully, the marathon was cancelled. Here was one of the early announcements about it on Twitter:

BREAKING: The LA Times @mikememoli reports that the NYC Marathon has been canceled, according to an NYPD source.

That's good because the city needs to focus on getting back on its feet.

Every effort should be on cleaning, rebuilding and repairing the city so people can finally get back to a normal life.
