This is scary: cyclist Bradley Wiggins has been taken to hospital after colliding with a vehicle while on his bike. It can happen fast and happen to anyone. He's a professional cyclist and he STILL had this kind of accident.
The 32-year-old Tour de France winner and Olympic gold medallist injured his wrist and hand, and he may have broken several ribs. Ouch!
Also — that old adage about more accidents happening within a mile of your home? This seems to prove it. He was right near his house in Lancashire, and a vehicle pulled out of a petrol station forecourt and collided with him.
Here's what the garage attendant said:
"By the time I got there he had moved to a safer place but was still on the ground and he was in a lot of pain. He said he thought he had broken his ribs and while a lot of police cars arrived it was about 15 minutes before the ambulance got there by which time he was blue."
He's said to be in stable condition, and he's expected to make a full recovery. The driver was questioned by police.
Feel better soon, Bradley!
