Well, it's done: Lance Armstrong has resigned from Livestrong completely.
In October, Lance had stepped down as chairman but decided to keep a seat on the board for whatever reason. That's no longer the case, as Livestrong wants to avoid further damage from their co-founder's lying ways.
A Livestrong spokeswoman said on Monday that Armstrong "remains the inspiration" and was still the charity's largest donor, having given nearly $7m over the years. As far as inspiration goes, we're betting it's solely about beating testicular cancer and has nothing to do with his cycling anymore.
Here's what the new chairman said:
"Lance Armstrong was instrumental in changing the way the world views people affected by cancer. His devotion to serving survivors is unparalleled and for 15 years he committed himself to that cause with all his heart."
It's just a shame he couldn't commit himself to other areas of his life.
While yes, he has helped cancer research worldwide, we can't help but thinking people shouldn't be trying to paint him in such a positive light as he's leaving. We mean, the dude obviously knows how to keep it classy.
This was, however, a good move on his part. Now they can focus on helping those in need, instead of being run by a cheater.
