Guy Fieri just opened up a new restaurant in Times Square, which promises American food for Americans in America.
Well, the New York Times went to review it — and came out with a scathing review that was just as funny as it was harsh. On the other hand, we're sure that Guy is trying his hardest to make a good food joint, and he's human, so we're sure he's saddened by the reviews.
"I just thought it was ridiculous. I've read reviews. There's good and there's bad in the restaurant business. That one went overboard."
We agree that it might have gone above and beyond the usual review, but what if it was truly that bad? Guy seems to think that there's no way it could be, and that the NYTimes reviewer had a vendetta:
"I've been in the restaurant business 25 years. Do we do it perfect? No. Do we strive to do it perfect? Yes. [He] came in with a different agenda."
If you look at reviews on Yelp, however, the average review is mediocre — so maybe a reviewer who knows his food isn't that far off.
"People see me as a TV guy. I'm really a chef. I think that will change. It's two months now. Let's see where it is in six months. Do I think I've fallen short? By no means. [But] do we make mistakes? Absolutely."
That IS true — the place has only been open for two months, so maybe, just maybe he'll take from these reviews and fix things up to higher standards!
