We previously mentioned some ahmayzingly good news… Twinkies should survive the bankruptcy of Hostess!!
More good news in the great Twinkie crisis is that a federal judge is forcing Hostess and their second biggest union to enter mediation.
The whole Hostess closing down fiasco happened when one of Hostess' unions went on strike because the company was going to cut worker's wages by 8%!
The union wasn't having that, so they declared a nationwide strike.
The strike made it impossible to keep factories open so Hostess said they'd have to close their doors forever.
A bankruptcy court judge said that neither the company nor the union went through the proper channels when arguing over contracts and employee pay.
So now they're being asked to go through mediation!
Does this mean the Hostess might not go under after all? Will there even be a Twinkie shortage at all??
What no one is sure of is even if the two sides reach an agreement, can the factories even stay open? Or is it still too late and 18,500 people will still lose their jobs?
We guess we'll just have to wait and see… we'll keep you posted!
